I went into a local bike shop to get some guards for my wife's new road bike and came across this:

It's called the "Tangent Innovative Fender." The guy who runs the shop said he had it on his bike and it worked a treat (could be salesmanship). It looks pretty cool, light, and (apparently) does a job. Obviously not as effective as full guards but was just wondering if anyone had any practical experience of 'em.
