In a past job, part of what I did was to program touch-screen displays on big machine-tools (the computer controlled, robot thingy's that cut bits of metal in a big factory).
On a few of the machines I programmed, on the diagnostics screen, there was a schematic of the machine - where if you tapped a part of the machine, or the fault displayed, it would zoom in to display it more clearly and give more detail.
And this was about 12 years ago!
OMG - I think Apple owe me $1 billion!
edit: oh yeah, and I think I've made lots of things that are rectangular, with round corners. Some of them were shiny too! My point is, that patent law has become a nonsensical joke.
