That's nothing compared to what samsung did for tvs. Samsung have built tvs for years and apple are about to launch a tv. That's what you think right? Wrong. Apple actually built the tv many years ago, but samsung lured them into their factory with blatent copies of their products and into a time machine which they'd built (and copied off apple) and sent them forward in time.

They certainly invented a round crispy fruit. They then stole patents from a Great British company to produce the Apple Pye which when combined with know-how from French Champagne manufacturers took the USA by storm and the rest as they say, is history. Apple is as American as Apple Pye and Mumm ...

One of the slides used by the Apple lawyers in the case was a picture of dollar bills flying out of America and landing in South Korea (according to the American reporter on the Today program this morning). No nothing about nationalities at all.

In a past job, part of what I did was to program touch-screen displays on big machine-tools (the computer controlled, robot thingy's that cut bits of metal in a big factory).
On a few of the machines I programmed, on the diagnostics screen, there was a schematic of the machine - where if you tapped a part of the machine, or the fault displayed, it would zoom in to display it more clearly and give more detail.
And this was about 12 years ago!

edit: oh yeah, and I think I've made lots of things that are rectangular, with round corners. Some of them were shiny too! My point is, that patent law has become a nonsensical joke.

And people forget. Not so long ago, riding on the success of the iPod and having stolen the idea for a portable mp3 player, Apple fought Creative in the courts for years. And lost. So kettle calling ....

They show astonishing arrogance for marketing and packaging existing technologies and believing it is their own innovation. I'm definitely upgrading my Galaxy to an S3 now!

Oh, and my touchscreen Samsung mp3 player of the same year as the iPhone launch looks very similar. And it had curves.

Indeed, and I can't understand the evidence that the jury would have seen to make this decision.

However, because i don't know what evidence the jury would have seen to make this decision I hope that there was something a bit more compelling than $$$s flowing out of the US as that would make a mockery of the whole thing, including Apple's claims elsewhere in the world.

And this leaves me rather disenfranchised with the Apple brand - but that's OK as I'm typing this on a Nexus 7, which is easier, more convenient, much nicer and gets a whole load more use than the ipad 3.
