My Miele washing machine has done 10 years probably got another 90 in it as its only for one.
Recently I read on Money saving expert that you are entitled to a repair even if you are outside your guarantee period. IE everything should last a reasonable period of use relative to a product expected life. So a washing machine that breaks down after its one year guarantee should still be repaired free. Sorry cannot remember how it works. Anyone? You will have look that up yourself.
Dyson vacuum cleaners anybody??
Utter sh1te.
I think that does now apply to the UK. Although they dont give actual periods of time for each type of product and of course you have to get them to accept it. Try doing that to someone in an Indian call centre!I know we're not in Australia, but, Australian Consumer Law now goes even further than this, for any item you buy. You no longer need to buy extended guarantees, because the manufacturer is required to replace / repair any item that would under normal circumstances be expected to last. And rightly so as well. One of my pals managed to get MS to replace a two year old xbox for free, purely on the basis of expected life, and it would have only cost him $150 or so when brand new. Even a cheap ass washing machine (for example) should run perfectly for a minimum of five years, and preferably a lot longer.
Just binned my Morphy Richards iron after 6 years....
gutted - 20 quid down the pan.
