They need a passport to go to Leeds now? Things are getting bad up north.

Don't know, must be the French way. French bureaucracy has always been a nightmare.

They should count themselves lucky, I have to go to London when mine runs out, luckily, it is only every 10 years!

Presumably my old one, same as @gavroche. I don't think I can enter the UK with a German ID; I have to use my British one.

The Passport Agency or whatever it is called used to have a small network of regional offices, including one in Durham City, which offered counter service.

The Durham one is now closed, but when it was open it produced several passport fraud cases at Durham Crown Court.

Typically, the applicant would be asked to wait or return an hour later when they would find a Durham copper waiting for them.

I need to go to London for the paperwork, then the passport is sent to Chester ( 45 miles away from where I live ) for me to collect.
