Are you tone deaf?

26 for me. :ohmy::smile::biggrin:

I too have near perfect pitch, some days closer than others. I tested myself - before doing this test - (hummed what I though was a G, then I put in a CD of one of Beethoven's sonatas in G major: spot on, less than a quartertone out!)

Funnily enough, I thought some of the 'wrong' tunes sounded better, more 'interesting' than the originals. Perhaps this is because, for my sins, I dust the ivories myself, and the wrong tunes remind me of the way I play (or rather, fail to play) Rachmaninov...

It's a bit more complicated than that...
26 out of 26 - another with perfect (ish) pitch. A bit culturally specific in places, I thought - so much so that there's at least one tune in there I just didn't recognise - but it was obviously wrong.

Thank you for taking the Distorted Tunes Test. More information about the the NIDCD's research into tone deafness is available from Dr. Dennis T. Drayna's web page.

Thing is I can't sing a note or play any musical instuments so no idea what that means
