I didn't think Argos as a company was that old. I would've thought it was formed in the 1990's.

Green Shield stamps lasted until 1977, Argos first appeared on 1973, both owned by Tesco who sold Argos in 1979. Pretty sure the Green Shield store in Nottingham, most recently used by Cycle Republic, was never an Argos.

I always thought Green Shield Stamps were something to do with the Co-op?

Tesco were a client of Green Shield Stamps, not the owner - and stopped using them in 1977 inder Ian Maclaurin. BAT bought them in 1979 and then floated them off again in 1990.:okay:
