Me and mrs d are planning on a rtw trip, hopefully withing the next 2 or 3 years. Just need to get rid of the last 2 pesky kids so we can rent the house out!
Theres a few people out there living the life, not existing in the 9to5.
On previous tours ive met cyclists that have been on the road 5 years and a 50 yr old single woman travelling alone in her campervan cleaning houses.
How right you all are. Forget the drudge and get on that bike. We are 2 1/2 years into our new life style. i.e. that whereby everything we do is centered around our passion of cycling the countries of the World. We cycle, we rest, we work if we must, but only to continue cycling. You can read about our adventures at http://www.my-bicycling-adventure.com
I'd be interested to know the average amount of money people save up before going on one of these huge tours. I'm guess it's not much different from the standard backpacker travel-the-world thing, except perhaps with greater start-up costs and fewer transport/accommodation costs.
