Asparagus

Had some last night for dinner. Mrs B served the spears wrapped in puff pastry.
In general not my favourite vegetable, but last night they were very enjoyable.

Made a load of dough last night, prepared lots of "toppings" and we all made our own DIY pizzas.

Asparagus on pizza is rather good. 😋

I've recently been doing some work on asparagine. It was the first amino acid to be isolated, you know. Non-essential and vital for nervous system development.

Tesco's bargain basement asparagus, sourced from the UK when in season:

Looks thick and tough but steam it for five minutes and it is delicious and tender. Add butter, vinaigrette, mayonaise, a mist of balsamic vinegar, whatever takes your fancy. Out of season, may come from just about anywhere, so read the label!
