IIRC, a couple of years ago, a young lady who was cycling along, received a smack on the backside from a passing car passenger. The miscreant ended up on the sex offenders register.

Out walking the dog some years back when I lived in Hornchurch I took an apple full in the chest from a passing car. Had I got hold of the bloke in the immediate aftermath I'd probably still be doing time now.

A very similar incident happened to me when cycling a few weeks ago on a cycle path. A passenger from a jeep going the opposite direction hurled an almost complete apple at me (there was a bite taken) at force and hit me on top of the shoulder. Felt like a rock hitting me. Typically I had a camera purchased at that stage but awaiting the SD card before I started using it.

Hopefully you get sorted @bozmandb9

Thanks Sixmile. Police still looking into it. Funny old thing, although the owner/ manager of the company (one man band), is the only person who drives the van, he has no recollection of the incident. Apparently, the people who work for him, he meets in a pub at random, works with them for a couple of days, then never hears from them again! Convenient, and highly professional!!!

I can't believe he got legal advice and couldn't come up with something a bit better, still, it'll probably be enough for the CPS! However I don't think it'll help in respect of the insurance claim now being pursued on my behalf by the British Cycling solicitor!

I have been assaulted twice in recent years while riding my bike. The first time a bunch of lads pushed me off my Brompton. I chased after them, and caught one when he ran up against a wall. Didn't know what to do with him then, but at least made him apologise. The other time someone hit me on the back with a stick or something while I was cycling home at night. I gave chase. It was quite a long road and they turned left. I followed left. I could not see them but guessed they had gone to the bottom of the hill and turned left again. I followed, bingo: they were stopped at the traffic lights. I stood in front of them. They reversed and then jumped the lights the wrong side of the road, but not before I had thrown my bike at them (it was only a hack bike).

A new reason to practise the bike toss?
