Mrs B sometimes refers to me as Obelix, Asterix's friend, because of my habit of collecting and doing stuff with rocks.

It's been decades since his partner Rene Goscinny died. I was still a boy. I did not think the books were as good after he died. I think Asterix in Britain was my favourite.

I learned everything I know about the Romans from Asterix. Used to get one a week from the library. My daughter's just got one out but I think she's a bit young for it yet.

Sad to see that Albert Uderzo died today. Asterix et al were a big part of my childhood and I still have the books now.

Any other fans here? Which was your favourite? I think mine had to be Asterix and the Soothsayer as it was the first one I read.

One of my faves as a kid..
Loved the wry humour, and word play.

Then I got to enjoy them all over again, when I had my own kids.

Too many titles to choose a favourite from.

As a "Nothing of any merit happens without tea" type person, I did like the hot water gag, in Asterix in Britain.
