.....It's here!!!!

Picked up my new ride today. A Trek4.5 Domane (2013 model). Up-specced it with the wife's blessing (blow me down!!!) to include a set of American Classic 420 Aero 3 Wheels.

The bike has be bought with the proceeds from selling my trusty old BMW. When the Beemer went, I must confess that I was a bit sad. But, within a couple of miles today that sadness had melted away.

The new IsoSpeed decoupler trickery on this frame is amazing - felt like I was riding my MTB along one notirously bad stretch of local road (at 27 mph!!!).

It's a beast. And I love it. Yes; I know I am a lucky bar-steward but in my defence, your honour, I will be cycling / walking / running everywhere that I need to go from now. Actually, what's not to like!!!!^_^

Can you post a picture of your new bike with the wheels please. Was in LBS last weekend looking at the Domane 4.3 but they had already sold out of the 58cm. Looks like Trek are going to have supply problems on their 2013 range just like the 2012 range. They had the Domane 4.5 in the shop but only in a 56cm. Looks a splendid bike but was slightly over my budget.
Yet to see one out on the roads so you must be one of the first to get one. Me jealous - YES.

That's alot more secsay than I expected. That paintjob makes the toptube and seat stay look dangerously slim though! Very nice.

I take it that isn't a crack just above the qr pin in the second pic!!!

To be honest, Rando, this was outside of my budget, too - until I sold the car.

Not suggesting that everyone will be in a position to do that but I really really do not regret the decision.

The owner of my LBS (a top bloke, who I really trust) admitted that the 4 series Domanes are absolutely the best value in the range. You sacrifice a couple of hundred grams on frameset weight over the 6 series but by adding the lighter wheels can even the score somewhat.

This comes with Ultegra drivetrain, Ultegra Flight Decks and 105 brakes. It's a fine mix (cannot beleive how smooth the gear shift is).

I'm sitting here right now and consdiering taking the Magic Shine light off of the MTB so that I can take this out again for an hour or so!!!

LoL - exactly what I thought when I picked it up. rest assured it's just grubby finger marks on the edge of the chainstay protecting tape.

Incidentally, I was very impressed that Trek supplies a full set of frame protectors with the bike - so that you don't have to cover it in Helicopter Tapre to stop the cables rubbing through the paint job!!!

Oh lord - how cool does that bike look. You lucky sod !! Enjoy.

Thanks Rando.

It must look pretty good because (seriously), motorists and passers-by were really checking it out as I rode it home.

I ride with a guy who has American Classic wheels and they look the nuts at speed.

It's not just the decals on the rims but the odd white spoke that they include too.
