As long as I breathe, I attack.
No bus route to anywhere near my workplace so its either bike or car ( exit pedant mode )
Did a couple of days in the car as i didnt fancy the 40-50 mph gusts coming and going for nights .

Looking at tomorrows forecast and it's 40 mph gusts headwind for my journey home. Just an 8 mile commute along the canal shared towpath. I'm undecided.

No bus for me either. 50mph gusts is where I switch to the MTB for the greater control of flat bars. I also choose routes depending on the direction and strength of the wind as some of my commute is very exposed which is lovely for looking out to sea on a nice day, but not fun in the teeth of a gale. Highest gusts I've cycled in were in the high 70s mph. Tomorrow top out at 58 commuting home it looks like.

If I avoided 25mph gusts out here on the coast I'd hardly get to ride at all.

I've been riding to work through Abigale, through the last one can't recall the name, about to set out with Henry starting to blow.
If I don't post around midnight tonight you all can have my bikes

So far the max gust according to a local (ish) web station has been 37 mph whilst I've been on the bike, and I'm about to go out again.... definitely has been blustery the sort that stops you sometimes!

Correction, the weather man has just said gusts up to 50 mph reported but much higher in Scotland, there he said 80 mph in the cities!

IKWYM - I just rode in what the nearest weather station says was a 25mph gusting crosswind. It was a challenge holding the road bike on the short sections of 2m-wide track.

How do other people cope with gusting crosswinds on road bikes? I think I'm out of practice after riding hybrids and roadsters for a few years, but it seems to be easiest if my windward hand is on the hood and leeward hand is on the tops. If I'm in the drops or hooks, I feel like I'm in danger of toppling over!

Omg!
For the first time ever I got blown with the bike right into the next lane.
Did not fall, and it was at the only bit, already very near my work, where I took the road.
The commute home was better, but I had to stop more because the gushes of wind were fewer but stronger.
Gotta do it all again tomorrow morning :B)

Take care and watch out for flying debris, I could hear a recycling bin chasing me at one point yesterday.
