Attaching pump to frame

Hello everyone.
Slightly bizarre question. I am currently trying to get as much out of my backpake and onto the bike as possible, so have tools/ tube insaddle bag, andwill get a bottle cage when I have a chance (when I can be arsed...!).

My problem is fixing my pump to the frame. The issue is that I have a bike with odd shaped tubes (ie not cylidrical), and they aren't straight, either. It is this bike (Marin Poineer 08 ladies frame):

Dunno if you can make out that the tubes aren't cylindrical on that, but anyway, they aren't...
So, any ideas for where to attach a pump. The one I have currently is a long (14" maybe) cheapo Halfords jobbie, but it does the trick. I accept that I may need to get something smaller & more compact, but don't want to spend an absolute fortune!

Hmmm. That was long winded. Oh well, conciseness has never been my strong suit!

No, they aren't, they are a bit wavy...aren't they

Anyway, have you thought about velcro straps?

Is your down tube round in diameter? Take a looka t where my pump is stashed. It is a topeak mini morph.

Does not look as if there is 14 inches (which was length mentioned for the pump) on the downtube on the wavy bike (I like the wavy bike BTW so please don't think I am be rude )

OK, plenty of options for 'something else' but it appears the only option as I see it for wavy bike and 14" pump is velcro...

BTFB, there's a "credit crunch" on... We're not all rock musicians

It is wavy isn't it?

You can get short pumps which come with a clip that attaches to the bottle cage bosses. The pump is usually further secured to the clip with a velcro strip. Looks like one of those is your best bet.

I can't see an easy way to attach the pump you already have.

I've attached my mini pump to the rear stays with the mount usually used for where the bottle goes. I used the braze on for the pannier rack to hold one end of the mount, and cable tied the other. Works a treat. If you can't picture what I'm going on about let me know and I'll put a pic up when I get home.

Don't do what I did and leave a nice topeak pump attached to your frame with your bike locked up unattended!

Nicked that day, and probably sitting in a fellow commuter's saddle bag.

Bad enough, but made worse as I only noticed it had been pinched when my bike was upside down, rear wheel in hands, with tyre off, and new tube ready to go.

It was raining as well!

Heh heh. I love the wavy bike! It didn't really occur to me that things like this might be a problem- I was just awestruck by the wave...!
In diameter, they aren't cylindrical, either. They're shaped a bit like... erm... an octagon but with the outer two sides longer, and a very short top/ bottom bit.
That makes no sense, but never mind.
Yes, the down tube is the only one that's round. So I might look into getting a smaller pump in a bit.
For now though, think I will pop down hobbycraft or somewhere and attempt to fashion some velcro straps!

Will be mulling over suggestions this weekend!
