I have a video of Bill Gates handing me a £10,000 prize in the national theatre in Lisbon.

I've also taken my pupils to science activities where we met and conversed with; ex science minister Lord Sainsbury, astronaut Helen Sharman, Nobel laureate Harry Kroto, pop star Brian Cox and neuro scientist Baroness Greenfield.

It was a charity event. You paid to have photos and autographs, all proceeds went to charity. The celebs made nowt.
There were 11 Bond girls there, including Mary Stavin, Madeline Smith and Caroline Munro. There were some youngsters from Game Of Thrones. Ten of the Quadrophenia cast including Toyah. Ian Lavender of Dad's Army fame. My number one target was Derren Nesbitt. He was in the 60's tv series The Prisoner. He also starred alongside Richard Burton & Clint Eastwood in Where Eagles Dare. He talked to me about his clashes with Lew Grade & Patrick Mcgoohan, and how he helped Ray Winstone to get on. I had a photo with Toyah and a group photo with Quadrophenia cast. I saw it advertised and thought it would be something different to do. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Also won a Lambretta Helmet signed by the Quad cast at the roulette table. The only downer was Blackpool. 1st time there for 10 years. What a dump. And to add a bit of gravitas classically trained Michael Jayston was also there. View attachment 108251 View attachment 108252
Toyah Wilcox, that would've been incentive enough for me to part with my entry fee.

Mark Lester was a really nice chap. He was very popular. Apparently he attends a lot of these charity events so it tells you something about the man. It shows how popular he must be if he is in so much demand, even if he can't sing!

I have in the course of my work met and worked with well over a hundred actors, entertainers, sportspeople, well known chefs, and radio and tv presenters. Some of them were charming, one of two of them were complete horrors, and a few of them are now in prison. I don't have one single photo of me with any of them. Why? Just ain't interested.

I don't call them celebrities 'cos I don't celebrate them.

I've got a picture of me and Phil Vickery somewhere. I did have to ask him who he was although I did know he was famous. Top bloke.

Back in the 1980's I knew an actor called Richard Franklin whose claim to fame was he played Captain Mike Yates in the Jon Pertwee years in Dr Who. He had a tiny cameo in the 1983 20th anniversary show, The Five Doctors. He was gracious enough to take a small notebook to the recording for me for autographs. In this one book I have:
Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton, Peter Davison, Anthony Ainley (then, the Master), Carol Anne Ford (Susan), Elizabeth Sladen,, Katy Manning (Jo Grant), Frazer Hines (Jamie), Mark Strickson (Turlough), Janet Fielding (Tegan), etc. Must be worth a bit now as several are now deceased.
