Ok so I have been reading various HR training plans etc. I have a resting heart rate of about 55-58 bpm but when out on the bike my average is usually measured at around 160-165 bpm no matter how long or short my ride is. I rarely go above 182 bpm for max heart rate which is below my theoretical max of 189 bpm. I have been a runner for years but had a year out with injury last year and really back the intensity of my training down although now i am back up to full intensity.

I don't feel overaly fatigued after riding for 3 hours with an average of 160 bpm i just think that seems slightly too high when i see others averaging at 130-140bpm. What do you fine folks think? Plus do you have any advise on how to train in a zone to lower the average heart rate? To get my HR average down to 130-140 bpm i feel like i would end up do granny speeds on the bike.

Depends what your capacity is and what your goals are.

Sounds averagely fine
