Great price for the saddlepack, was it a one off or are there more at that price?

I think

I think that Caradice are moving into the direct sales arena so former dealers are in the process of liquidating their stock. I bought mine from Will's Wheels in Stockport. A colleague bought a saddle bag (or at least what we used to call a bag of that type) a few weeks ago and I picked mine up last week. They did have another bag on display but I couldn't tell you which model other than that it was a conventional bag with leather straps (ooh-er Missus) and presumably cotton duck fabric. If you fancy one of those perhaps you could ring the stockists listed on their website and see if there are any left.

It is worth looking in more detail at where products are manufactured. Many that have a British logo are still made overseas (Taiwan, China etc.), they are purely put together in the UK with finishing done here. One example, perhaps a bit simplistic, is Boardman. British brand, Union Flag on the bikes etc, but nearly all the components and frame made in Taiwan.

Personally I agree with you. I think Ribble are similar in as much as most of the components are made abroad, and are then assembled over here, which I suppose is better than nothing. I think the above mentioned Will's Wheels make their own frames and use proprietary components from companies such as Shimano, Brookes and Deda. I was pleased to be able to sneak a peak through a door into the workshop while visiting Lusso and although I couldn't see what the ladies were making, it must have been more than just stitching in a label or two so I'm happy that they make what they say they make

Hope are definitely worth supporting; an excellent company with legendary afer-sales service.

Lusso is about 200 yards from my office, very discrete and I think most of the stock is made overseas and finished here. I had some Lusso bibshorts; they were good but too short in the leg.

Hi Lusso here :bicycle:not sure where you got the above information from but we have been manufacturing in radcliffe for the 30 years we dont do a lot of advertising because the vast amount of our business is with the trade and its available in over 800 shops in the UK. its a pity Globalti you didnt come around for a look see and you could of had a pair of bib shorts tailor made for your long legs for a small fee

We try to keep our garments as green as possible with regards to the carbon footprint and all our fabrics are sourced in the UK or Europe and other well known brands like Santini, Moa, Assos buy their fabric from the same factory. Same goes with the leg grippers and pad inserts. Our garments are designed for by cyclists for cyclists and tested by riders who have rode at world championship and international level, in this months Cycling Active review we got awarded best value and most comfy Bibshorts in front of Endura, Perl Izumi, Howies, Gore and dhb.

Well I stand corrected, sorry! It's difficult to believe that anybody actually manufactures garments from A to Z in the UK nowadays.

At the time I bought the Lusso bib shorts I did wander down the road to see if I could have a chat but I was not encourged to come inside, let alone chat about a "special". I got the impression there was a security problem and visitors were discouraged. The shorts had a blue border; they were excellent quality but just too short in the thigh - I'm a standard size 6' with a 32" inside leg. That said, I have a pair of Lusso bib tights, which have lasted me for around 15 years and are still giving great service despite having been torn and repaired several times!

Hi thanks for the response, usually if people give us a ring first we will then let you come in, we dont open the doors to many in radcliffe :smile:as you can imagine. You can always give us a call if you want to discuss anything 01617245222 and thanks for buying Lusso in the past.

This also goes well beyond cycling, Reebok make great play of their "Britishness" with the Union Flag displayed on their products, even though at the back of my mind I seem to remember them going through the US courts quite a few years ago concerning the British branding but the Far East manufacture of their clothes. Karrimor is another that uses the national flag yet makes its products thousands of miles away.

Conversely, New Balance, a US maker of training shoes has, and still does, make shoes in Cumbria

Yes that is all great, but I am sure we are all dying to know - Are your products completely manufactured in the UK?

One part of me, sort of, quite fancies a Moulton. Although all the people who used them when I were a lad were girlies. Having said that, they do look really quite technical, and maybe a bit nerdy but none the worse for that.
