Ladies and gentlemen, please take a look at the VIDEO and tell me if there's too much play at the bracket.
It's a bit disconcerting since I replaced the whole drivetrain no more than two years ago.

Bearing has worn. Take crank off to check it's not a cracked axel.

I get 2-3 years out of a square taper cartridge BB on my commuter ! Just saying.

TBH I run Square taper, GXP, Hollowtech 2 and FSA Mega Exo.

The Mega Exo got the bearings replaced when I bought the bike second hand, and that bike get's crap thrown at it, it's been fine - CX bike. The GXP - changed the SRAM to a Praxis, as the bearings are easier to replace.

That bike is my MTB and when it comes out it's usually in atrocious conditions, and after a big ride I usually need to remove the chainset, pop the seals and clean out the BB bearings - that's life. Bearings get replaced if rough.

Square Taper cartridge - just get's fitted until you get play in a bearing, simple and cheap to change.

The ones I've never touched are a Shimano UN91 and UN71 BB's fitted to my vintage road bikes. OK they don't get used much now but they were fitted from when the BB's came out on the market.

All are pretty easy to fix, it's no big deal.

I've had had to replace square taper cottarless bearings over the years. Just saying.

Remember to check the cups!
