Mate's girl is called Taloola. Can't help but think he was a Bugsy Malone fan!

As usual we did the practical thing

Picked name we liked
Did we like abbreviated version because names always get shortened
What did the initials spell
Did the middle name sound right with the first name
Made sure it wasn't too long for application forms

We ended up with an Andrew James and a Michael David

Cool, I was supposed to be Andrew James, but my dad stopped for a drink on the way to the registry office, so I'm James Andrew - I'm not sure my mum ever forgave him for that, there was always a slight atmosphere whenever the story got told.

I'm not very good with other people's baby names because I tend to blurt out the first connection I think of.

Portland: "What, as in the cement?"
Avery: "Like the labels?"

Dunno why no one has asked me to be a godfather.

My two lads are called Douglas and Daniel. Douglas is named after Doug Scott and Daniel is so named because Rosey kept singing Danny Boy on her walks around the village in the week before he was due.
