I was bored and went to clear out my junk email folder (yes, that bored) and I found a nice scam email in it

Dear Friend,

Good day and compliments, I know this letter will definitely come to you as a surprise, but I implore you to take the time to go through it carefully the decision you make will go off long to determine my future and Continued existence.

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Major. Rebecca Schieble, in 4th Battalion, 64th Armored Regiment unit here that Patrols the Helmand province Afghanistan. I am desperately in need of assistance and I have summoned up courage to contact you. I am presently in Afghanistan and I found your contact particulars in an address journal. I am seeking your assistance to evacuate the sum of $ 14,800,000. 00 (Fourth Million Eight hundred Thousand United States Dollars) to you as far as I can be assured that it will be safe in your care until I complete my service here. This is no stolen money and there are no dangers involved.

SOURCE OF MONEY:

Some money in US DOLLARS was discovered and concealed in barrels at a location in Helmand province when we conducted a patrol and it was agreed to by all parties present that the money is shared between us, this might appear illegal I do not I want to tell you No compensation can make up for the risks we have taken with our lives in this Hellhole. The above figure was given to me to share and to conceal this kind of money became a problem for me, I was able to get the package out to a safe location entirely out of trouble spot. He does not know the actual contents of the package as he believes that it belongs to an American who died in an air raid, who before giving up trusted me to hand over the package to his close relative.

I have now found a secured way to get the package out of Afghanistan for you to pick it up. I do not know how long I will remain here, I have been lucky to survive 2 suicide bomb attacks by Pure Divine intervention, This and other reasons put into consideration have prompted me to reach out for help, If I could be of interest to you Then Endeavor to contact me immediately and we would work out the necessary formalities but I pray that you are discreet about this mutually benefiting relationship.

Respectfully, Major. Rebecca Schieble.

So I thought it would be fun to reply and try to help the poor lady

Dear Major Schielbe

Thank you so much for the email. I am a true patriot and welcome your contact. I very much appreciate the fine work you are doing in Hellmans Province. I’m not very familiar with this part of the world but I have eaten the mayonnaise from there and it is delicious

I will of course help you. I am in the UK, is that a problem? I don’t own a passport due to an unfortunate misunderstanding with the British government so I can’t leave the UK. But rest assured I would be delighted to help you in whatever way I can

Barrels of cash would be no problem to keep here. I am the owner of a local pub and have lots of barrels full of beer. I could keep the barrels full of cash with them. Hopefully I won’t get them mixed up!!

Please tell me how I can help further

Yours patriotically

Years ago I did this to a Nigerian scammer. I made out in my emails that I was a mafia boss, but was subtly coming on to him. I also chucked in random phrases for a laugh, like "Greetings and Coronation Street."

Egged him on for a while but got bored, told him I wasn't born yesterday, and heard nothing more.

Old George popped his clogs before he could complete the transfer. Even the phone went unanswered.

Of course, as with so many things this could work both ways. What if they decided to have a bit of fun at your expense?

In what way.

I'd the address of old "George" in Aberdeen, the house telephone number before he'd answered.

Drop in rank.

Dear Friend,
Good day and compliments, I know this letter will definitely come to you as a surprise, but I implore you to take the time to go through it carefully as the decision you make will go off a long way to determine my future and continued existence. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Sgt Linda Cade, in 4th Battalion, 64th Armored Regiment Unit here that Patrols the Helmand Province, Afghanistan. I am desperately in need of assistance and I have summoned up courage to contact you.
I am presently in Afghanistan and I found your contact particulars in an address journal. I am seeking your assistance to evacuate the sum of $26m (Twenty Six Million United States Dollars) to you, as far as I can be assured that it will be safe in your care until I complete my service here. This is no stolen money and there are no dangers involved.
SOURCE OF MONEY:
Some money in US DOLLARS was discovered and concealed in barrels at a location in Helman Province when we conducted a foot patrol and it was agreed by all party present that the money be shared amongst us.This might appear as an illegal thing to do but I tell you what? No compensation can make up for the risks we have taken with our lives in this hell-hole. The above figure was given to me as my share and to conceal this kind of money became a problem for me, so with the help of a Canadian contact working with the UN here (his office enjoys some immunity) I was able to get the package out to a safe location entirely out of trouble spot. He does not know the real contents of the package as he believes that it belongs to an American who died in an air raid, who before giving up trusted me to hand over the package to his close relative.
