ban?

Hi I was away from home and used this ip number/ hub to try to log in 185.254.151.76
but couldnt as the error message said this ip number was banned. I was attempting to use it with the permission of the householder. Any ideas why that ip number is ' banned?' thanks

Hello @bobcolover, I have moved your question from contact us to site support, in case the issue arises again.
Tell your friend very sorry their IP got caught in a range of IPs we banned because they were used by spammers.

I have now un-banned that IP.
The spammers, several of them, did not post from your friend's IP, but from the wider area.
Obviously the CC mods banned a too wide zone, the IP you wanted to log in from was included by mistake.
It's like post codes, streets and houses.
We should have banned a few houses, but we banned the whole street because the spammers kept going.
Interesting fact, AI bots can (and do) post spam to forums simultaneously from a network of computers.
Each computer/device has a different IP, the bots can make up usernames and email addresses in seconds.
