Bar ends for a Brompton

Not long now until I take delivery of my M6L. Could anybody recommend a suitable bar-end for the M-type bars please? I recall Crankarm praising the Titec Micros but I'm not sure which model of Brommie he has, and if they would suit all bar styles.

Bill, I have an M type 6 speed (M6L). The Titec Micros are perfect, were £9.99 and don't affect folding. There may be others but couldn't find many at the time when I was trawling the bike shops in London back in 2004, so can't speak for others although there may well be more alternatives now. I got mine from Evans (cough) but they don't seem to stock Titec any more. So it's:

Yeah but a quick search on yahoo suggest they might be a bit more than £9.99 now. Not sure about your LBS situation or whether you shop on line.

FWIW - I just had a quick Google Shopping search and found a few around the £10-12 mark (not sure about postage).

I'm looking at the possibility of getting a Brompton in the new year so am watching these threads with interest. Do they cope OK with heavy riders (100+ kilos )

you just need to cut a little bit off the end or if your artistic then you can cut around the brake levers. but! if you have oversize hands then the gap between bar end and brake will be 2 small, but any other type of bar end will be the same

yes easily. i have done 65 mile routes with over 1500m of climbing. the bike was fine, just me knackered

I was indeed looking at the Ergon bar ends for my MTB and may well consider them in the future for my Brommie. I asked TiTec if there was much difference in size between their Micros and Ergonomic models and was told that the latter is approximately 40% bigger so I should test the fold issues before buying. I am leaning toward the Micros for the moment as Crankarm recommends them so highly. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

My Brommie also has the Ergon grips with bar ends. I'll get a photo this weekend with a little luck. (They're in this photo, but it lacks detail...)

I would post an image of the Titec bar ends but the CC site only allows images hosted on a 3rd party URL which I'm not doing. But they fit fine.
