On the bike I had stolen the bar ends were.............
a) coated with some sort of soft plastic/rubber which made them really comfortable.
b) fitted 'into' the bars (as against "around" the bars**).
**fitting 'into' the bars meant I didn't lose any of the grip......which I do if I use the type that clamps 'around'. Not sure how important that is as I've never tried that type.

Is it possible to get similar to what I want ??

Was a thread about these inside bar ends the other day somewhere on here , I had a pair of bullhorn bars myself on a bike instead of putting bar ends on , worth considering .

They look the part...................pricey-but if thats what I have to pay......
That's just an example and one of the first ones I found. There are loads of cheaper ones.

The bar end type that fits into the bars withe a wedge to tighten were popular many years ago.....

However they had a habit of damaging the handle bar which is why they were phased out.

I have used these and love them.

That makes sense (re' the wedge type)

How do those bare ends fit ??

Within the bar is a small metal "ring" that fits over the bar and then tightens with an allen key

This is the Cane Creek version that shows what I mean

I use them on conjunction with the Ergon grips
