So the new stem is still the same length as the old one just higher.

It looks like the new stem's actually longer than the old one to put the bars in that position when they're raised so much.

You need a short stem with a steeper rise, like the one Emma (SatNav) recommended in your other thread. I don't think I'd even go as steep as 35 degrees. A 70mm 17 degree rise (which is what I've got on my Cube) would probably do the job.

This is useful - stem comparison tool

The dial on mine says 35 degrees which agrees with Emma's link and 70 mm lenth, so how much would a 17 degree rise have on a stem, does that mean its less steep?

PS Just used your SCT link.. thats usefull.

A 17 degree rise will be about half as much as the 35 you have your stem set at.

There's no way that stem is 70mm long altogether. It looks about 70mm if you don't count the bit before the join. The bit before the join adds at least another 40mm.

Imagine the join in the stem positioned where it bolts onto the steerer tube. That would give you 70mm and 35 degree rise.

Bolting it to the bars is simple.

If the other end of the stem is identical to the one on the bike, then bolting it to the steerer is also simple.

But if the steerer end bracket is a different depth, you may need a different spacer on the tube,

Fitting one of the same make you already have should work with the existing spacers.
