Would you re-wrap your bars if they weren't symmetrical?

I've haven't wrapped handlebars for a while, and I was never much good at it. However, having bought some new bars (slightly wider and a little deeper, since you ask) I had to give it a go last night.

I did the right hand side first, and considering I haven't done many, it came out ok. Then I did the left, and it's amazing how much difference one side of practice makes - the left is loads neater. But because of that, the tape ran out a centimetre or two earlier than on the other side. So on the right I have quite neat tape that goes right up to the cross lever, and on the left I have very neat tape that stops almost an inch short of the cross lever bracket.

Would you re-wrap the bars?

Not to sure?
I spend more time than is healthy wrapping and rewrapping bar tape, just to get both sides equal. But the bottom line is that life is really to short and in less than a weeks time, you wont even notice it!! If only I could convince myself that.......:banghead:

I wouldn't, because they'd be wonky in 2 delightfully different ways. If I rewrapped them, I'd discover a 3rd and 4th way to badly wrap bars. However, if I felt I had mastered it on the second one, I'd rewrap - because looking at the mismatched sides would drive me crazy. But not as crazy as rewrapping it 20 times!

Loch side.
I don't even understand the question. Go back and re-do it now! Some mothers' children.....tut...tut.

If the two sides look good and it is only that the tape ends unevenly try this short cut: overwrap the ends with electrical tape (go beyond where you want it to finish. Take a ruler and measure out from the stem to an equal point and mark it. Then take an exacto and cut through electrical tape and bar tape, being careful not to cut through any cables or score the handlebars. Then put one or two turns of electrical tape around the cut ends.
