For the first one I'd avoid bi-coloured tape. I've wrapped & re-wrapped a good few dozen bars but this was hard very time consuming to get looking anything like right:

I had that tape, Isn’t great. Plus you over wrapped it wrong, you shouldn’t see the red bits, only through the holes.

The owner of that particular bike likes it that way.
He saved his paper-round money to pay for the frame and all the componentry that I couldn't come up with out of my box of bits....
.... which in my book trumps any of your rules of "should" or "shouldn't".

I now have a much better understanding of how to fit a new bottom bracket. That was what she was doing, wasn't it?
I see bike mechanics like that all the time down at Halfords :laugh:.
