Caravan forum FFS, how boring a forum must it be that someone posts "oh look I put it in the wrong gear" "thank god technology saved me from having to apply a brake in haste, I could have sprained my ankle"

The Screenman comes along and tells him their could have been a kid behind him if he had got it in the right gear!!

Or Ok I want everyone to know I have a flashy gizmo ridden car let post some stupid imaginary situation to let everyone know, Screenman sees and wants to let him know he doesn't give a flying fudge what car he has and technology doesn't cover for not paying attention. and gets banned LOL and SWMBO is a another FFS

Driving without due care, not good. Good job it was not reverse what with that young toddler behind you.
I would like to know how you expect him to see what is behind his caravan when reversing in any case?
Serious question, as I reverse artics. I will ALWAYS check behind the trailer before reversing, but it then takes me a good 15 seconds or so to walk the length of the trailer, climb into the cab, select reverse, and start moving. Fifteen seconds is plenty of time for someone to have walked behind, or even parked a car at the back of the trailer. I have to rely on reversing lights, warning bleepers, and hazard warning lights, plus a bit of common sense on the part of other people, to make reversing safe. I have never towed a caravan, but I assume they have similar problems even though the time scale will be less between checking and moving (although given the age of your average caravanner, it probably takes them a few minutes to dodder back into their car, select reverse, etc...).

It was a bit OTT to ban you whatever your views were on the guys driving. If CC operated a similar policy, the place would be empty!

That's forums for you. I presume you are new to the internet? Take this thread, for example, now in to it's third page discussing the rights and wrongs of the decision made by an admin on another forum about a post where someone posted a thread that was, as you point out, a little on the dull side.

If the premise of the original thead was "oh look I put it in the wrong gear" "thank god technology saved me from having to apply a brake in haste, I could have sprained my ankle" " the premise of this one is

"someone said they'd done something a bit daft, and I took the moral high ground by pointing out that it could have ended badly even though the OP was almost certainly aware of the fact, and now - poor old me, who has done nothing wrong - has been banned"

and here we are typing about it when we could be dancing, drinking or screwing.

I'm a cyclist, and a caravanner. Often combining the two activities, using the caravan as a base to explore other parts of the country (before some pedant jumps on me with a smartarse comment).
The caravan forum is a pool of knowledge and experience, as is this one.
Live and let live.

Was I that wrong to point out that attention should be paid by the driver at all times that they are in control of a car.
Yes. Everyone makes mistakes. I have never hit anything with my car, but that doesn't make me perfect. I've dropped my bike a couple of times which could have injured a child had he/she been walking along my drive next to my bike at the time.
