I don't think it was Screenman alone that got edited and banned. But i think it may have been down to re-quoting the deleted text after the mods had stepped in.

Last week I jumped into Mrs GTI's manual Ibiza, put my right foot on the brake as I do to start my DSG Passat and slammed it into reverse gear. There was a loud bang, the car lurched and the engine stalled. Then I did it again.

I'm with the op on this; a good reminder of the need to watch what you're doing and the potential consequence of a silly mistake - which we've all doubtless done.
