Barrel adjuster compatibility question.

my new microshift R8 3x8 road ShiFter are here, and I have been merrily fitting them to my bike but have came across an issue. The new shifters did not come with barrel adjusters, and there seems to be a difference between the old and new set of shifters.

The old ones are threaded, and the new ones just have threadless holes which are slightly larger than the threaded portion of the old barrel adjusters.

Right so it seems that the holes on the shiftersare the right size to accommodate the cable guide ferrules, so an in-line adjuster should be what I'm after, problem solved... I think.
