downtube barrel adjuster broken...

Hi,

Has anyone got any first-hand experience of removing a broken-off barrel adjuster?
Mine's broken off my Allez (top end of downtube) - part of the adjuster's thread is still inside the barrel housing.

Did you end up using a tap tool to remove the remnants?

Will it damage the gear cable running through it?

I'm not sure I can visualise what you mean. Are you asking about an in line adjuster, something like this one?

Buy a replacement adjuster and get a new cable inner and outer. Thank me later.

find a bolt with the same thread an attempt to screw in through on the other side to push it out would be my 1st port of call .

If the thread is inside the "braise on" then you might need to get "creative".

Pic of the broken bit would help. What sort of 'getty out' tools are in your garage ? Dremel, drill, plyers etc

No mate, it's one of these that's welded onto the downtube.

No Dremel, drill yes, pliers yes, no tap tools though.
