As of this afternoon I've got the same problem - snapped down-tube gear cable adjuster

Inline adjusters FTW.

Sorry to hear that.
Looks you've got an Allez too if that's your bike in your avatar. You could try the "easy-out" method, you might get lucky hopefully.
Yeah, mine's a 2010 model. When you were having your trouble I read the thread and thought "thank gawd that's not me". Clearly I didn't thank him/her enough ^_^

I've got a set of easy-outs so I'll try them first. I've sprayed liberal amounts of penetration fluid into the boss in the hope it will make breaking the grip easier. I'm going to replace both adjusters .... just to be sure :okay:

Well, today was interesting. I met the first sheared item that I couldn't shift with an easy-out :cursing: The extractor was, at one point, twisted about 10 degrees and I thought it would break so eased off and figured out what plan B was going to be. That was a call to the LBS but they're closed on Tuesday

Plan C involved drilling through the broken adjuster and forcing a replacement into place knowing that I wouldn't be able to use it as an adjuster - it's just there as a cable stop. I then fitted an in-line adjuster, re-routed the cable to the derailleur and sorted out the gears. Back on the road again :okay:^_^

Nice job.
I'm going to have to do plan C as well, at some point - I just noticed that the barrel adjuster I fitted will not turn! - it's only acting as a cable stop.
Which in-line adjuster did you get or are they much of a muchness?

Sorry, Mazz, I had a couple of in-line adjusters in the spares box and really don't remember where I bought them 🤷‍♀️

I have six in the spares - bought some after Mazz's issues as my very vintage XT mech's adjuster was playing up a couple of weeks ago. It's fine since re-indexing. I thought I'd ordered two adjusters, got six... Spares going free !

Will these inline adjusters fit on my Allez's gear cable? If so, I'll take one off you thanks, I'll pay for the postage. Let me know.
