I fitted a Cytronex Electric conversion kit to my Decathlon Network 700. I used as transport rather than recreation. I rarely do more than 5 miles on it but living in a hill place the assistance is much needed. I believe the battery holds 250Wh(?) But I will struggle to get 10 mile of range. The company says I have to go on a long ride to completely fatten it.. I have neither the desire nor inclination to do so. is there any other way of restoring the charge capacity?

If you battey is 36v you will need 3 bulbs as photo, 48v needs four 12v bulbs
find your + and - on the bike battery and connect the ends of the wire,
run it untill it's down to 80% or there abouts, but DON'T flatten it you will distroy it
then re-charge.

I'm assuming these batteries are opd style nicad as opposed to lithium, as i was under the assumption you should never run lithium batteries flat.

You can, but it's not advisable to take them to zero and don't leave them at that level. I run my battery to 1-3% when pushing the range, but always put straight back on charge upon arrival

The problem with running them as far down they will go is that, although a good BMS will stop it going too low

if you then leave it after then it will slowly drop anyway
and that means dropping below that level that the BMS has set to protect it

so it can get so low that it destroys it

I think that happened to one of mine - I didn;t ride that bike much and left it over one winter
next spring it was totally dead
I think I left it low by mistake - and then didn;t recharge it as I intended
so after a while it was dead

If you don't turn off the battery there is a slight but constant drain on it through the controller. Maz's is on a key but mine has a switch to disconnect it

Mine doesn;t have a switch or key or anything

not sure how it works overall as Bosch are rather secretive
I presume that taking the battery off the bike totally is best - but the instruction don't say you need to
