my baxi boiler went futt the other day, the readout was e168 circuit board fault. the fitter came out and put a new board in power on..... futt er? now he takes the front of to fined the power cable that goes to the igniter has been resting on top of the heat exchanger coursing it to melt and catch fire
so he is coming back on Friday with the new bits and door as the seal has melted on it.
if your gas man only dose a service by monitoring the flue gas he will not see if your boiler has this problem, the dangerous part is if like me you think it is just the fuse that has blown and replace it the exposed wires from the power cable cased the outer casing to go live even though it was correctly grounded
