Who'd present it? Who could possibly follow Patrick?

Currently Chris Lintott and Lucie Green front it along with Chris North, Paul Abel, Pete Lawrence and Jon Culshaw and it seems to be a format that works well.

I met Patrick Moore when I was doing my PhD in the mid 90s. I think he thought he was visiting a prep school, because he gave one of the research fellows a spitfire badge. Rum. Very rum.

I learnt today that the Beeb are contemplating getting rid of this educational and inspirational national institution:sad::sad:. Good grief BBC! - it's only 30 minutes a month!!!. I have to tolerate wall-to-wall Strictly Come Dancing, Cookery shows and bl**dy Eastenders and now you want to axe this harmless little show.

For those who would like to sign an online petition:

They can axe Eastenders for me, but I quite like a bit of 'Strictly' and 'Great British Bake Off'

Is it any wonder - as the night sky is increasingly blotted out by light pollution, who in the UK really gets to see a really 'dark' sky nowadays ? TSaN is a great programme, but how can you interest folk in stuff they have no longer any chance of seeing or participating in/ enjoying?

The great panic tonight on the news about the 'frightening prospect of the lights going out' made me laugh - our still fairly rural county here (Cambs) is lit up like Las Vegas at night as even the smallest of villages is infested with orange streetlights every 10 yards or so - just switch the feckers off FFS!

:hello: (most of the time, unless it's foggy)

What about Brian 'I talk like I'm coming up on my first LSD trip' Cox? He'd be nauseous enough for that time of night, and for those who don't get on with sleeping pills, but suitably it would add a groovy 21st century edge (without a monocled fascist presenting the show).

I hear what the OP says however, there is an ever-increasing tendency for anything remotely interesting that involves the use of one's brain to be replaced by something which involves Simon Cowell, a ridiculously camp Italian dancer or the deranged wife of Sabbath's former frontman.
