It was the same with the Curling team........

Amazing how curling (especially women's curling) became a "British sport" when they were the only team who looked like getting a medal.

.. and on the subject of Curling, I think I prefer the Swedish Curling team's singing efforts

I've never had a problem understanding the great Sean Kelly, I think he has a brilliant accent ^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^
Didn't Paul Sherwen make a comment yesterday to the effect that in his day there were only 2 English speakers in the TdF, maybe 3 if you counted Sean Kelly?
The French press often refer to the Anglo Saxons when referring to events in Scotland or Wales. For most French people, British, even if they are definitely not Sassenach = Anglo-Saxon.
Zut alors:laugh:

I dunno what the furore is anyhoo.
UCF is just another WWE...
according to some US sports sites,
a few of the WWE stars:rolleyes: are moving across..

Erm, its the BRITISH Broadcasting corporation.

The Republic of Ireland have nothing to do with Britain or being British.

would you rather it not be covered?

I think the university of central florida might think different ;)
.
WWE fighters mostly come from a wrestling background, so not inconceivable they fancy their chances at Mix Martial Arts....
but
the same they are not, WWE is entertainment, UFC or MMA is fighting, .....
Sorry for my oops..

I still don't buy it..
All of these sports have been 'fixed' over the years..
Boxing etc..

MacGregor landing on their laps was manna from heaven..
The mass publicity before the hastily arranged fight laid heavily on the 'The Fighting Irish' slant on MacGregor, the same happened all the time in heavyweight boxing, the 'great white hope stuff'..

The hooha over the original bloke's medical problem..
the 'is he scared' or 'is he really got broken ribs'

Like the WWE, a money making organisation ...
and entertainment..

They are British, funded by the British too. Similar to the Ryder Cup when we (England, Scotland, Italy etc) compete as Europe.

point getting missed, I believe the BBC report on many things that happen outside of the UK...
Think you have missed the point. The BRITISH broadcasting corporation is funded by BRITISH people and its role is to serve the British people.

If you don't like it writing stories in such a way that it has relevance to British readers, then tough

No, it's funded by people who buy a TV licence and its remit has always been wider than serving the British.

Regardless, as a British licence fee payer, I would like it to be more accurate in its coverage.

So it should only cover events involving British people, or things that happen in Britain?
