A more interesting birthing story....

A kangaroo in a Siberian zoo who was thought to be male has surprised everyone by delivering a baby, it appears.

"It has a lovely face and a beautiful little tail," Barnaul Zoo, says, describing the young kangaroo on its website. "Because birth for kangaroos is a very mysterious and long process, it went unnoticed by staff zoo," it adds.

The baby kangaroo, known as a joey, was about 15cm (6in) in size when it was discovered on 22 March, suggesting it was born some time ago. Kangaroos are about the size of a cherry when they are born, and can then spend several months in their mother's pouch before they start venturing out.

The mother was identified as a male at another zoo, before she arrived in Barnaul, and she had already been given the name Chuck. But in light of the discovery that she is indeed a female, zoo director Sergey Pisarev says, "His mother probably needs to be renamed," the Itar-Tass news agency reports.

Oh yes now that just is something to savour lol in our younger days me and my good lady (farmers daughter) once spent several hours combing a piece of ground atempting yes that was atemting to find a yew we knew was in trouble i later worked out we had covered just over 12 miles on foot trying to find the silly thing only to find it next day several fields away from where it should have been quite well and with twins and @classic33 how could you @Young sleep through ? we used to take turns at watches and then trying to sleep but this is all over shadowed by calving ! Done that. Also had to give up when we couldn't get the innards back in.

They always seem to happen in the early hours!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Actually the sheep here seem to be a bit late lambing. Last year, February saw lots of lambs, I can't understand that because we had 12 inches of snow at the time.

I think it keeps them cleaner. Less likely to get blow fly.
