The climbing scenes in Department Q were filmed in my village. Looks like there'll be a series 2 so am fully expecting a drowning at the surfing lake.

I walked through the middle of a film crew in London yesterday as they filmed a Burberry ad.

Their timing was off; there were some roadworks about 10 metres away with a guy angle-grinding a hole in the tarmac!

Erdington Distillery, there's an entrance to it on Great Western Road next to B&Q, and another one round the corner on Duntreath Avenue.

For some daft reason, I never knew (or had cared, to be more exact) that that was actually a distillery. Rather, I thought it was merely a bottle plant and warehouses, like J&B in Dumbarton.

You live and learn.

Had lunch today at the Winking Prawn, near Salcombe in Devon, at which was filmed the film "the roses", with Olivia Coleman. The film just went to cinema in august, so will look out for it when it comes to TV/netflix etc.

Doctor Who - regularly see Bristol and Cardiff places I know, often near were we live and / or near where I used to live in Cardiff. Also Torchwood where Captain Jack kicks in the door of our caving club to find zombies in the basement - I didn't even know we had a basement. And Clara and Mr Pink were teachers in the school my dad taught at, albeit transplanted from Cardiff to London.

Incidentally the attack on the train scene in the film Young Winston was also filmed near our caving club, albeit well before I was a member. There was a nice story where a club member was told "you can't come across here, we're filming" Big mistake! She was a quite formidable lady and he got a lecture about the club's "commoners' grazing rights" and so on. Someone much more diplomatic was fetched and tried the "would you mind terribly ..." approach with rather more success.

Steve Marchant's superb series Outlaws was of course set in Bristol and featured lots of local landmarks

Apparently Merseybeat was based around here

which I had never heard of

and several Super League episode - which is not surprising as there is a big Rugby League stadium about 1/2 a mile away from our house
not as many crowds nowadays since someone bugger up the finances and they got kicked out ouf the Super League

but not much else

Runcorn has a few bits and pieces - mostly that I have never watched
