Hi to all.
Sitting at home tonight feeling a little worse for wear ( got the dreaded lurgy ) ,the front door opens and my ex brother in law comes in with a hybrid Boardman framed bike. The last thing ,I was expecting him to say was it's a present ,but that's exactly what he said. He,s been spending the evenings building the bike up for me as a surprise. He's fitted it with Sora group set , disc brakes and other high quality parts. Ten years back his daughter was born at 26 weeks and it was "touch and and go" as to whether she would make it. At the time I did what anybody would do and helped in any way I could ,to get them through this difficult time but he has always been internally greatful as well as his good wife.
2016 was not a great year for me as my wife ran off with another fella but my brother in-law has been a piller of strength for me . My current road bike is an imaculate 1983 Peugeot Eqiupe and I don't like using it much in the bad weather and ruining its new look so he's given me this BoardMan bike to use in the winter months. So tonight I'm sitting here feeling quite shocked and humbled by his generosity. It certainly puts my faith back in the human race again knowing there are still some good people out there :-)

I really hope this is taken in the spirit in which it's delivered, but swapping the Mrs for a Boardman sounds like a damn fine deal to me. ;)

Sounds like you've had a tough time time lately, sorry to hear that, but what a lovely gift and what a nice guy. Bet you're well chuffed. :okay:

So will it get an airing this weekend do you think? (Oh - and photos or it didn't happen )

I can't put it into words how happy I am. It's just not the material aspect of owning a fine bike but more of the kind generousoty he has shown..I'm working tomorrow but I think on Sunday were are going out of a bike ride.

Nice one - Top Geezer trophy to the B-I-L - just make sure you let him win on the race back ...

Damm good for you and well done him. Sounds like a case of one Bike out, another one in.

Surely its the old bike you would want to use in the winter and keep the boardman immaculate? Im guessing your Peugeot isnt the average production bike. Just curious as I have no idea about either bike.

The old bike is worth next to nothing to be honest. It's a basic mass production steel framed bike that sold in there thousands from Halfords but it does hold a lot of sentimental memories of time gone by. As it's in perfect condition I just want to keep it looking good and hold on to it .

It's a distraction move!
He's hoping you'll no longer be interested in the Peugeot, and he'll be able to restore it.

Two of my favourite bikes are "mass production steel framed" jobs. Respect to the ex b in law.
