In the last couple of months i have stayed in hotels and taken advantage of a full English breakfast.
On both occasions No beans or fried bread have adourned the plate.

Have i missed something , when did this change , what happened to beans and fried toast ,,

Did i dream these vital items ... were they ever a part of a full English or are they a victim of the recession

People who have 'full English' are has beans.
Think yourself lucky that you're one of us...or you're toast!

We usually were served beans with our full breakfast during our lejog in september, but don't think we ever got any fried bread. I don't think beans go well with bacon and eggs etc. so don't think they should be there, but I do like fried bread.

Beans on toast is delicious and should be served by law 24/7 at eateries throughout the land. I have specially fond memories of the version at uni where the beans at any time of the day had invariably been kept heated in a 6" deep server for a goodly amount of time and the white toast was thick, evenly browned with just the correct 'give', the butter nicely pliable and the plates (most important to get this right) hot so that the meal kept hot until the last mouthful.

1st amendment to the (beanzontoast) constitution.

The people shall have the right to eat beans on fried bread at the discretion of the establishment. Beans on toast must always be available, however.

You've been unlucky. I think there's always been beans on the menu in hotels I've stayed in. Fried bread is a rarity though.

Rich - hashbrowns are fab! You have no taste .

Are Hash browns not an American thing ,,, American items of food can not be allowed into an English breakfast as it would turn it into an International breakfast (and dont even get me started on that excuse of a morning starter called the continental breakfast)

Fried bread is the devils work...xx(
Agreed, I'd only eat-it if I'm about to go on a big ride where extra calories might be valuable, but it's really just a grease-sponge.
Hash Browns are pretty nice though IMO.
Toast with decent marmalade is food for the gods.
