surely the cans were rusty .
I have some Elderberry wine that I made in 1984. It tastes better with age.
I thought that a can of beer would stay drinkable indefinitely, so drunkenly left one outside out of reach in 2007, its still there but has gone rusty looking despite being aluminium. I don't think itll be safe to drink!

I ate some tinned peaches that were around 25 years old from my grandads house. They were really nice too

I think it's just a can of Carling, sat on a low roof in direct sunlight/rain/snow for 5 years, i've not checked it's there in months ill have a look tomorrowWhat brand of beer?
Some drinks cans are steel, not ali, so that would explain the rust. The way to tell is to look at the bottom of the can. If it's shiny (under the muck!), it's ali, if it's a matt grey, it's steel.
