The Maypole, near Jesus Green.
Baron of Beef was ok about 15 years ago too.
cheap cocktails, amazing range of Whiskeys and 8 different ales on the pump, with homemade italian food perhaps?Exactly the two that came to mind when I saw the thread title!
Baron of Beef used to have a bar billiards table. Can't remember what the attraction of the maypole was.

And where did Franklin drink? The Eagle is interesting because the wartime graffiti of airmen and their girlfriends onthe ceiling, and the fact that two young gentlemen called Crick and Watson burst in one lunchtime announcing that they had discovered the "secret of life" (and presumably then got thoroughly drunk?)
A plaque commemorates this...
Cups of tea in the SCR in Newnham, presumably. And where did Franklin drink?
I guess you're off the wagon then TC.Local advice needed. I am on a four-day course in Cambridge and have a few very limited opportunities to sneak off for a proper beer. So... your pub recommendations please (ideally to the north-west of the city centre), and keep it descriptive! Thanks!
I was obliged to rein in my temperance thang, on account of Agent Hilda's celebrations. But it's £4.15 for a bottle of Churchill College Ale at this gaff, so last night was verging on the teetotal.I guess you're off the wagon then TC.
Phew!
