I used to commute to work around 13 miles which involved a 1 mile trip to the train station, a 45 minute train ride and then 12 miles to work. When doing this I never ate in the morning and just had cereal or porridge when I got to work and that was fine.
I have recently upped my journey and now cycle 8 miles to a different station, get on the train for 15 mins and then off for my 12 miles to work. I've started to find at the end of my commute I'm struggling a little and I'm now wondering whether I should be eating something beforehand given in now doing an extra 8 miles? I'm not woozy or dizzy or anything just struggling for a bit of energy for the final miles.
Should I now be eating before my commute? If so, how much? And if so, when? Was thinking maybe the short train journey might be good for a cereal bar or something small?
Thanks
