Bruges and Ostend are both good, and there's a network of cycle paths coveing the coastal region.
Much like the Dutch ones IIRC.

What Frank said. I pretty much did the same and the Last Post at 8pm by the Menin Gate in Ieper (Ypres) is not to be missed.

Tyne Cot war cemetery is a huge and moving reminder as are the many smaller war graves.

Bruges - Ypres - Ghent - Bruges is probably the most classical possibility.
Ghent - Tournai - Geraardsbergen/Aalst - Ghent is a less common suggestion. Tournai is one of these absolutely underestimated Belgian gems!

Antwerp - Mechelen - Leuven/Aarschot - Lier/Herentals - Antwerp
All these combinations of historical cities can be cycled along nearly nothing but towpaths!

My all time favourite canal is the northern of the two routes on Fietslogies' map which connect Bruges and Ghent, just east of Damme.

This is me riding along it!

More images of the towpaths between Ghent and Bruges. There are so many canals, you can even make a perfect loop.

Cycling between Ghent and Bruges, (2 x 50 km)

In Ghent, you can cycle the valley of the Scheldt, south of the town. It's entirely signposted and you will not only use the towpaths along the canalized river, but also tracks along old meanders, and there are really many of them!

Happy memories 20 years ago i lived in Bruges and would regularly cycle along that path  , It is beautiful at every time of the year but there can be some strong headwinds
