Ben Lomond today

I bagged my first Munro climbing Ben Lomond.
Met 2 guys from Ayr Mountain Bike Club (Thunder Tracks) in the car park they were also climbing but they were carrying their Downhill Mountain Bikes to the summit and cycling down again. We passed each other time and time again as we made our way to the top.
These guys were Hardcore,met them at the bottom after they completed their run.

Well done guys.

Just as we reach the top the mist came down, temp dropped by about 10 degrees couldn't see a thing

Of the 106 Munros under my (ever increasing) belt, I'd have to say Mount Keen is the least worthy of being one. Dull, uninspiring, a trackless void. Does anyone else hope that this is demoted to Corbett classification before they do it?

My favourite of all time (helped enormously by the glorious weather on the day) is Blaven on Skye. The great thing is that the full main Cuillin is revealed in all its grandeur. Similarly, although Ben Nevis is a great mountain, it's rendered less impressive by being ON it because it isn't IN your view on the day. If you know what I mean.

Er, fully agree Paul but the thread is about taking MTBs up mountains, isn't it? I bet nobody has biked the Cuillin ridge yet...!

Mt Keen is certainly boring but it's a good day out on a bike, especially if you make it a full circuit rather than just out and back.

Had an epic on that ridge one winter when the club I was trying out with split up and left me shepherding a very frightened ill-equipped girl, one head torch between us and no spare clothing. I didn't pursue my membership bid after that.
