Another possible factor: Are the available discounts useful? I've read on here of a handy Halfords discount that comes with BC. I think there are similar discounts from CTC but I have no idea what.

If you have a bike purchase planned this may be significant.

(I'm a CTC member btw - as this is a necessary adjunct to being a member of the Fridays. I have no knowledge of the BC/CTC tribal debate)
CTC membership gets you 15% at Cotswold Camping and I always get 10% at Evans even though I'm not aware of there being any official relationship there. I think SPA Cycles also offer 10%.

Just found this statement at the bottom of the page I linked in post #36

Please note that only full membership provides access to our free legal advise claims service.

This doesn't fit with what has been said above

If it's important to you, choose the organisation that suits your politics, otherwise choose the one that provides your required cover for whatever type of riding you want to do

Spot in...once again.

You are making a habit of this whole "being right" thing. Steady on or you'll start to show the rest of us up.

It's a slightly misleading statement and a bit of puff. Slater & Gordon, who provide CTCs claims service, will offer the same service to any cyclist whose claim meets their conditional fee requirements. There is no free 'legal' cover as such, other than what is provided as a constituent part of the Third Party Insurance cover - which is the same for all member types.

So the question is what do full members get from the free legal advice claims service that Associate members are excluded from, does anybody have an answer to this ?
