Took a punt and picked up this frame by benotto for 70 quid.
Columbus SL tubing. Planning to refinish the chrome forks and maybe a repaint too then build it over the winter but I know nothing about benotto frames except they are Italian so hoping you guys here can keep me right on this one.
Seller says it's the Paris Roubaix frame model

Nice frame. What do you want to know? You’ll be dealing with Italian threads of course. I should just do the fork and leave the frame as is, looks fine.

Chroming will be expensive - over £100 for a pair of forks.
I ended up with a couple of 120 mile round trips to get a pair done - I seem to remember there was a company that will do it via a postal service: "Ashford" I think, but they were quoting £150 two or three years ago.

Yup, won't be cheap to get the fork chromed and the frame repainted.
If you want to research some colour schemes get the Pinterest app, should be plenty of suggestions on there.
H.Lloyd should have some decals.

The frame is missing one seatstay and one chainstay. I certainly wouldn't be happy riding it.

Im a car painter by trade so the paintwork is easy and I think the classic gold is the way forward,but....
getting the correct colour I do not think will be easy.If I had another bike to reference from,I could get a car colour as close as.
Ive the frame in my posession now.,Its definetley been rattle canned in blue but to me,I think it was red originally, just what ive seen on an area thats chipped but it definetley needs my attention for a proper pro repaint.
Year of bike...once ive the rattle can paint removed as it has filled in the frame number,I will be able to identify a year.
Going to start this incoming week to strip it back to bare steel

Update on the frame....
Well, totally stripped off the bad paint job to bare steel and have it in primer waiting for its top coat in champagne gold.
Found a good colour match on a French cycling blog and they used Toyota 583 to paint there benotto.
I'm doing the same and hoping Thursday or Friday to paint it.

A week later and here's how we stand!
Frame now painted in clear over base Toyota 583.
My forks do need rechromed but I want to test the bike before I shell out to have them rechromed so I have machine polished them as best I can.
Once the frame is fully cured, I will rub it in 2000 grit wet and machine polish the frame.
Starting to look good at this point
