For whom the bell dings

I had the back wheel of my Falcon trued at the LBS as it was bent when I found it.

It's a cheapo Rigida rim on a Weinmann hub so I'm not surprised that it's bent again.

I'm wondering if it's worth another £7 having it straightened or should I buy a new wheel?

I'd like to have a go at building a new rim on the hub as it's nice & smooth, but I need the bike for daily commuting...

Just because it is a cheap rim is no reason for it to bend in my book. Assuming you haven't had some sort of impact, I would suggest the LBS didn't set even spoke tension when they trued it, or possibly didn't stress relieve it. If there is an actual bend in the rim, it shouldn't be corrected with spoke tension as that will cause problems.

I would buy a spoke wrench and have a go yourself.
