In one picture I put a piece of a straw on the flanges, and it is long enough to sit on top of them. But on the other side of the hub I can fit the straw in between the flanges, and there is extra space. Also the skinny part of the hub in between the flanges appears slightly bent, and there is a bulge going around it. This bulge is more prominate on the side with narrow flanges. Could this lead to problems with the wheel?
When the wheel is secure in the dropouts and the nuts tight (or the QR lever tight), does the rim show a wobble from side to side (eg getting closer to and then farther away from the brake block(s)?
