Not a spindle for a bent, but a wheel axle. Serviced the hubs on my wheels today after winter. On the front wheel everything was good, so just cleaned everything up well and regreased and reassembled it.

The back wheel surprised me though. When I was unscrewing the nuts and cones off the axle I saw that the spindle was considerably bent. I hadn't noticed it while the wheel was on the bike. I had to go to Halfords and get a new axle, which comes as a complete assembly, with bearings etc. Anyway, no real problem, all now done and running smooth again. I would love to know what bent it though.

Had it happen to me chilly...why?..perhaps inferior materials, perhaps a pothole that put too much stress through the axle, who knows.
Usually i find it when ive adjusted the hub bearings, only to find they need adjusting again pretty soon
On closer inspection, it can be a bent axle.
