Does anyone know if the path track round the seaward side of the power station is open to the public, can I bike it?
According to Sustrans that section of the Route 76 is off road the entire route doesn't seem to touch the A1 when you zoom in which makes sense given it Sustrans that would take you 10 miles out of the way rather than go on a busy roadThanks for that. What puzzles me is that cycle route 76 seems to use 1½miles map link of the A1, including a section past a speed camera where everyone will be too focused on their speedometers to notice somebody on a bike!

Edit: Telemark has already answered the question![]()

I wanted to put in a Streetview link too, but that bit of the A1 must have been photographed AGES ago, the A1 is now a dual carriage way in both direction, + the cycle lane next to the Edinburgh-bound lanes ...
but I found this picture

This must be very new, it doesnt appear in google street view or microsofts "bing". Glad to see it, didn't fancy cycling on the A1
On the Sustrans web site they are showing the NCN 76 route between Musselburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed as a "proposed route", however it is shown on the current NCN Coast & Castles South map (published Dec 2008) and on the latest edition of OS sheet 67. On the ground there is signage, but in true Sustrans style it is a wee bit patchy in places, I would recommend taking a map with you.
There is a link to a map of the route we took at the bottom of the blog post I link to above.
Yet on their On Line Map they show the path as there but they put the warning up 'Path Not Open'![]()
