Dining room furniture? I just eat off the floor,like i thought most folk did.

I used to do so then I descoverd a new fangled thing called a plate. Now working on something to pick up the food.
Did think about something with prongs but the gravy kept running through the gaps.

Yep, at the time we Brits were just nailing planks together.

A lot of Japanese furniture is surprisingly crude. There's a traditional house in Beautiful Wife's home town and I was surprised to find there's very little furniture and even where there is some, for example in the kitchen, the drawers are nailed together: no dovetails.

Most joinery is used in housebuilding not furniture making.
